Fine Art

Fine art or the fine arts describes an art form developed primarily for aestheticsand/or concept rather than practical application.

Art is often a synonym for fine art, as employed in the term "art gallery".

Historically, the five greater fine arts were painting, sculpture, architecture, music and poetry, with minor arts including drama and dancing.

Today, the fine arts commonly include the visual art and performing art forms, such as painting, sculpture, collage/assemblage, installation, calligraphy, music, dance, theatre, architecture, photography, conceptual art, andprintmaking.

At PragyanPainting & Sketching stream of fine art is offered to interested candidates.

It Includes The Following Sub Categories:

  • Sketching
  • Drawing
  • Painting

SKETCHING: A sketch is a rapidly executed freehand drawing that is not intended as a finished work. In general, a sketch is a quick way to record an idea for later use. The ability to quickly record impressions through sketching has found varied purposes in today's culture. Courtroom artists are usually sketchers. Sketches drawn to help authorities find or identify wanted people are called composite sketches.
Sketching sharpens an artist's ability to focus on the most important elements of a subject and is a prescribed part of artistic development for students.

PAINTING:  is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a surface (support base). The application of the medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush but other objects can be used.
Painting is a mode of expression and the forms are numerous.

  • Drawing
  • >Composition or Abstraction
  • Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in a still life or landscape painting), photographic, abstract, be loaded with narrative content, symbolism, emotion or be political in nature.
